Hi Again,
Forgot to mention that I went to Italy for 2 weeks. Stayed at a villa just outside of Florence. Florence. Ahhhhhhh, deep breathing. What a magical city. Little winding streets reveal surprises everywhere, from leather shops, to flower gardens, to tiny, elegant espresso cafes. Walked until my feet were raw. The David--oh my--what a thrill. Medici castle, another beauty. Horseback riding past Caruso's home. You can taste the history. Speaking of tasting, I and my friend took a week's worth of cooking classes at the Villa Pandolfini. Chefs Luciano, Marizio, and Fabrizio taught us how to make homemade pasta, tiramisu, Tuscan chicken, all kinds of risoto, and everything fresh, from basil to sage. I recommend the villa to anyone. It IS a 15 minute walk up a steep hill, but it is worth it. The village is charming and the gelato--well--need I say more?
"Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear what you say." Integrity of character is everything.

I'm back!
Hi Everyone,
I had a challenge last spring (2011) which resulted in a hysterechtomy. Something like that really made me take stock of what is important. I know it sounds like a cliche but it's true. I'm looking at retirement and reinventing myself--AGAIN. I realized that it is never too late to find out who you are. So, onward and upward. New projects on the horizon. Looking at what are my true gifts at this point and seeing how I can use them to help others. Because, in the final analysis, helping others is what makes my life mean something.
Nancy :)

Novel writing conference
Hi Everyone!
I attended an excellent novel-writing conference today put on my Southwest Writers. I was looking for inpsiration to begin a new book. I think I found it! I'll let you know what it's going to be about soon.
My memoir, Avoid Mosquitoes--and Other Impossibilities has gotten wonderful reviews on amazon.com and has won two awards (Editor's Choice and Rising Star). Thank you everyone! If you haven't read it yet, I hear it's a great read! :)
I wrote another children's book this summer. My aunt, who is a marvelous artist, is painting pictures for it. It's a picture book designed for 3-6 year olds. I won't mention the title yet--but it's coming soon.

My Book is Live!!!
Title: Avoid Mosquitoes--and Other Impossibilities
"Nancy Sellin writes her life with an insightful, delightful, and inspiring voice. Her tales of living in Liberia provoke a sense of soul-searching, and ultimately, satisfaction--rarely found in memoirs. This book is a must read!"

Available at: amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com

Risk making a fool of yourself! It's freeing . . .
How many times have you thought of doing something and then, second thoughts: I don't want to make a fool of myself. I love Dr. Phil's comment: "You wouldn't care so much about what people thought of you if you knew that they didn't."
